Waiting (Original)

Price:

Size: 12"w x 6"h

For more than 30 years, the Monterey Bay played a significant role in my life. Daily I would visit the shores of the Pacific and the Monterey Bay to experience simultaneously both serenity and exhilaration. Because the soothing sound of the waves crashing and the birds calling to each other can't help but put your heart at peace. And at the same time, the scents and sights made your soul soar. Painting seascapes is my first love and will remain my first love. I am obsessed with it.

This sweet scene came from a day when I was tide pooling by the Seymour Marine Discovery Center in Santa Cruz. As I was exploring on this beautiful sunny day, I looked up to see this beautiful great blue heron land on the rocks and pause, expectantly. He was enjoying the wind and avidly looking across the waves, clearly searching for lunch. He was patient and kept turning his face to the sun, basking in its rays. Eventually he flew off after first acknowledging my presence with a quick bob of his head as if to say "g'day mate!"

From Rachel, the collector of "Waiting":

"I loved it from the moment I first saw it on your website.

"I had just read this Sir Isaac Newton quote, and therefore the painting called my name!!!

'I do not know what I may appear to the world; but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the sea-shore ... whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.'

"The colors, the energy and ambience, and the conceptual message were meant for me. This will be a daily reminder of the greatness of the ocean (and opportunities) before me.  It will go in my office! "
